Age of the Pacific: Transitions Combats Sex Trade

The Portland State School of Business offers several graduate business programs in addition to the MBA — this offering includes the Master of International Mangement (MIM). MBA students benefit from this affiliation in numerous ways, from being able to access MIM electives such "Marketing in Asia and the Pacific Rim" to attending events such as the Age of the Pacific Lecture Series.

Coming up on April 8, the MIM program is honored to host keynote speaker James Pond, Founder and CEO of Transitions Global, an organization restoring the lives of young girls rescued from sex trafficking through the power of a dream.

After serving eight years in Marine Corps Intelligence and 10 years in corporate America, James and his family gave up their lives in the United States and began working to combat sex trafficking in Southeast Asia.

Transitions provides comprehensive restorative aftercare for girls rescued from sex trafficking. Each girl at Transitions receives personalized care to heal from her past and provide opportunities for her future. A girl who finds her home at Transitions finds a new beginning. With holistic trauma therapy, life skills training and sustainable career skills, she finds a dream for her future. The organization's mission is to help girls transition, through the power of a dream, from darkness to light and from victim to survivor, to world changer.

Transitions Global's innovative and holistic programs for survivors have gained international attention for their professionalism, pioneering spirit, and success.  James has consulted on anti-trafficking projects in Indonesia, Greece, India and the United States.

All PSU graduate business students are encouraged to attend what promises to be an insightful and inspiring talk. The lecture will take place Monday, April 8, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. in Lincoln Hall (Room 115). Reception to follow.
