Business Briefing: Doing Business in Brazil

The Business Briefing Breakfast Series continues next Thursday, June 20, with a talk exploring "Doing Business in Brazil: The Promise and Peril of an Emerging Market."

Co-presented with the Portland Business Alliance, the discussion will feature the following panelists:

  • Altair Assumpcao, Principal, Sustainable Hub, Sao Paolo 
  • Claudia Valderrama, CFO, Wieden & Kennedy 
  • Tim Myers, President, Construction & Industrial Division, ESCO Corporation

For the past 12 years, the School of Business Administration's Business Briefing series has brought together executives, entrepreneurs and innovators from throughout the region and the country to discuss the trends and challenges facing business leaders today. Open to the public and offered at a discount to PSU students, the Business Briefings Series is held six times during the academic year.

The event will take place next Thursday, 7:15 - 9 a.m. at the Multnomah Athletic Club. Details are available online

The School of Business Administration and Associate Dean for Graduate Programs and Research Scott Marshall are partnering with Sustainable Hub and Fasti Educational to deliver a 2-week course in Sao Paolo, Brazil this July. Titled "Strategy and Value Creation for Sustainability," the course will be taught to working professionals and graduate students in the Sao Paolo region.

The course will focus on the drivers of sustainability and social innovation business strategies, methods for implementing these strategies and how value is created for businesses and communities through these strategies.  A variety of case studies will be used to illustrate the formulation, implementation and performance impact of sustainability and social innovation business strategies.  

"Brazil is one of the world's most dynamic markets," said Scott Marshall. "And its business and political leadership is beginning to recognize the necessity for sustainability-based decision-making and strategies. We were asked to deliver this course because of our international reputation for business education in the realm of sustainability and social innovation."
