You're Invited: The Business of Craft Brewing

The Commons Brewery Tasting RoomThe Commons Brewery Tasting RoomEarlier this year, we blogged about Portland State's craft brewing certification course, which is taught online through Portland State's Center for Executive and Professional Education (CEPE).

Next week, the craft brewing course — and Portland's craft brewing industry in general — will be the subject of the next installment of the Business Briefing event series.

Students and the general public are invited for this special talk featuring Mellie Pullman, Director of Craft Brewing Certificate Program and Willamette Industries Professor; and Mike Wright, Owner/Brewer of The Commons Brewery.

The Commons Brewery is a small craft brewery located in Southeast Portland, and it takes inspiration from European brewing traditions and Northwest grown ingredients to make its small-batch beers.

The Commons was born as Beetje Brewery Mike Wright's garage, using a 1 barrel nano system. Soon, Wright started dreaming of expanding the operation and upgrading to a true commercial system. That dream was realized with a new space and a new 7bbl system.

To find out more about The Commons and the PSU craft brewing certificate, please join us next Wednesday, July 10. One drink ticket per guest will be provided compliments of The Commons Brewery (please note; this is a 21 years+ event). There is a $20, non-refundable charge to attend Business Briefing events. Details and registration are online.
